Seiko used its June 18, 2026 press release to give the Presage Classic Series a more cultural angle. Four new references draw on Tomioka silk, the premium material associated with the Tomioka Silk Mill in Gunma, and package that story in a compact 38.0mm format that feels easy to place in the current market.
Design and materials
The lead watch is the Seiko Presage Classic Series “Tomioka Silk Promotion Organization” Limited Edition HCC008. Its dial takes inspiration from the texture and sheen of Tomioka silk, while the pink-gold-colored case and dark brown leather strap reference the brick facade of the historic mill. Seiko also says the bezel uses delicate texturing to strengthen the watch’s dressier character.

Alongside the limited edition, Seiko adds HCC001, HCC002, and HCC003 as regular-production companions. These three use stainless-steel cases with super-hard coating, while HCC001 and HCC002 come on matching bracelets and HCC003 stays with leather. Taken together, the four-watch set gives the Tomioka Silk theme a broader range than a single commemorative piece would have managed.
Technical details
All four watches use Seiko’s mechanical Caliber 6R51 and offer an approximate 72-hour power reserve. Case diameter is 38.0mm and thickness is 12.9mm across the line. In the US, Seiko lists HCC008 at $1,150 and the three regular models at $950 each, with HCC008 limited to 2,000 pieces.
Horomag view
The smart part of this launch is not just the silk story. Seiko is also widening Presage’s appeal by introducing a smaller size and tying it to a recognisable Japanese craft narrative without turning the watches into museum objects. HCC008 looks like the emotional hook, but the wider collection may be the more important commercial move because it lets the idea live beyond the limited edition.
